The Ring Crush Test fixture set can carry out the ring crush test for paper and board. It is suitable for materials with an average thickness up to 1000µm. It comprises of MD ring crush, CD ring crush, liner or fair side.
Firstly, The ring crush holder supports the test sample which is subject to edgewise compression. This is between the platens of a crush testing machine. Then, a branch groove cuts from the edge to permit insertion of the test piece. One of a series of replaceable discs rests in the center. The discs are of various diameters to accommodate test pieces of various thicknesses. This enables varying of the width of the grove formed between the edge of the disc and the wall of the cylindrical hole.

Scope
The Ring Crush Test Fixtures have been designed to carry out the ring crush test for paper and board having an average thickness up to 1,000μm, for the purpose of MD ring crush, CD ring crush, liner or fair side. It is manufactured with reference to AS/NZS 1301.407s, TAPPI T818, and TAPPI T822 standards.
Test Significance
The test piece of paper or board is supported in the Ring Crush Holder ad subjected to edgewise compression between the platens of a crush testing machine. A branch groove is cut from the edge to permit insertion of the test piece. One of a series of replaceable discs rests in the centre.
Test Apparatus
The Ring Crush Test fixture discs are of various diameters so that the width of the groove formed between the edge of the disc and the wall of the cylindrical hole may be varied to accommodate test pieces of various thicknesses.
