The Fabric Vertical Burn Tester measures the surface burning time of textile fabrics which have raised fibre surfaces i.e.: a napped, pile, tufted, flocked or similar surface. The process includes placing a textile specimen vertically in a frame. And the raised surface is ignited near the top. Then, the fabric catches fire. Lastly, record the time taken by the fabric to burn. This could be for the whole specimen or up to a point. This time gives us the results. Various fabrics have different burning qualities. Thus, the machine allows determining the burning capacity for quality assurance. The test specimens are with dimensions 150 mm x 75 mm. The Gas Burner allows several different positioning. This depends on the angle of test. The instrument allows Face test and Bottom-edge ignition. As well as horizontal stand-by position, horizontal reach adjustment, and vertical stand-by flame height. The Fabric Vertical Burn Tester uses timing devices to control and measure the flame application time. And also the after-flame time and/or the afterglow time. This starts automatically and can stop manually, if desired.
