The Portable Foam Airflow Meter monitors the porosity of flexible cellular polyurethane to determine the ease with which air passes through a cellular structure. Airflow values may be used as an indirect measurement of certain cell structure characteristics.
Low foam airflow results in poor quality of foam. And a slow recovery after compression. In some cases, it may cause foam blocks shrinking during cure. To reduce volume of forma products, foam is usually compressed. But the foam must open up. And also recover to its full height. Thus, fulfill quality expectations.
By testing foam airflow at the foam cut-off, you can avoid making closed or tight cell foam. This is very important as foam is prone to shrinkage. And splits once porosity drops below the minimum level. Checking porosity at this point gives us the opportunity to adjust tin catalyst level. Thus, to restore the porosity to the correct level for healthy split free processing.
Portable Foam Airflow Meter comes with a digital air flow reading of 0-100 (zero to 100% flow). The unit allows safe monitoring of foam quality at the production line cut-off. This can also assist necessary production adjustments during the run.

Scope of Portable Foam Airflow
Foam airflow is measured by various standard laboratory test methods where air is forced through a foam sample at a fixed pressure 9typically about 0.5 inch / 12 mm water gauge). Air flow rate is measured. The higher the air flow, the greater the foam airflow. The Portable Foam Airflow Meteruses the same principle. A precision miniature centrifugal blower provides the air flow.
Calibration of the Portable Foam Porosity Meter (CellFlo)
The unit comes with a calibration package for self-calibration of the instrument. This is to be done generally every 12 months.
