The Gelbo Flex Tester allows testing the quality of non-woven material. As millions of masks are being manufactured and sold during COVID-19. The testing of the non-woven material is important to ensure that the face masks, protective gowns are manufactured using quality non-woven material. This is important because most non-woven materials tend to lint or shed.

The Gelbo Flex Tester adheres to various testing standards including

IDM’s Gelbo Flex Tester measures the amount of lint shed and how quickly it sheds as the non-woven material is subjected to repetitive twisting and flexing in the flexing chamber. Thereby ensuring the quality of the material. As the process continues for a specific period depending on the international testing standard referred, the air inside the testing chamber is withdrawn to the particle counter. The particle counter counts and sorts the lint particles in real-time. The Gelbo Flex tester allows statistical analysis for real-time reporting.
The particle counter records the number of particles in real-time with relevance to sizing from 0.3 to 25.0 μm or 0.5 to 25.0 μm. The counter simultaneously monitors the material as per six environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, air velocity, or differential pressure. These are recorded whilst measuring particles. It has a flow rate of 1CFM (28.3 LPM) and is able to store up to 3,000 data sets including particle and environmental data, plus location time, etc. It also prints reports on a built-in thermal printer.
